HOW MUCH DO I FEED MY LAMB EACH DAY? This chart will help determine how much feed
your lamb should receive each day at a given weight and knowing
how much you want him to gain each day. First determine what
you think your lamb should weigh on show day. Subtract his weight
today from that weight. Divide that number by the number of days
until the show. This will give you the Average Daily Gain (ADG)needed
for your lamb o achieve his finished weight. As lamb weight increases,
feed intake must also increase. The formula below will guide
you in this exercise: When you know the current weight and the needed ADG, use the chart below to determine how much feed your lamb needs. This chart is based on the energy level in Premier Lamb Grower. Use it along with a weekly weighing of your lamb to monitor the gains with the amount of exercise you are using. This chart is also set up allowing your lamb to have a small amount of hay daily (up to 1/2 lb.) to maintain proper rumen function and reduce acidosis.
This chart is for large framed lambs and is based on using Premier Lamb Grower. To use it with Premier Champion Lamb Show Feed, add 1/4 to 1/2 pound more per day. Make adjustments based on weekly weight changes. If the daily feed requirement is in the shaded area, consider top dressing feed with Premier Lamb Popper to make the diet more dense for lambs over 100 pounds.
